Opportunity to Ask Your Questions
A Deep Dive is designed for middle and high school students who want to connect directly with an expert in a specific physics field. This is your opportunity to engage with a researcher who works daily on that exact topic, whether it's the hunt for planets around other stars, what happens when protons collide, or the physics that makes MRI machines work.
After the date is settled and you sign up, you'll receive materials (such as reading and videos) recommended by the researcher to prepare you. You're diving into one focused area with someone actively advancing it, getting answers to questions you can't find anywhere else, and gaining insights that go beyond the surface. It's how you explore a subject deeply, understand what it's really like to work in that field, and determine if it's the right fit for you.
Come prepared to listen to questions from other bright middle and high school students, and engage in discussions.

How It Works
1. You propose a topic
Name the physics topic you want to dive in. One fee allows you to specify up to five topics. The fee counts toward your seat once one of them runs. Read the refund policy below.2. We identify an expert
When a topic has enough requests behind it, we go to a physicist who is actively moving that field forward, publishing in it and respected by the people in it, and agree a date and a format.3. You confirm your seat
The date and the format go out to everyone who asked for that topic. You confirm your seat by paying in full.4. The expert prepares the reading
Recommended reading reaches you ahead of the session, so the room starts from the same place.5. The session
Ninety minutes on the day, up to 8 students, and the questions decide where it goes.

Payment and refunds
- The $10 topic proposal fee is the only thing paid up front, and one proposal may name up to five topics. It is credited against the seat when a session on one of them runs, and refunded in full if none is organized within three months.
- Once you confirm a seat, the seat fee is non-refundable.
A seat is $150 online and $250 in person. If you already paid a topic proposal fee, take $140 online or $240 in person: the same seat, with that $10 already inside it.

For Schools and Groups
A school, homeschool co-op or organized group can book a whole session at a flat fee, online or in person at the school. The fee is quoted per booking: it depends on the topic, the presenter and the format. Reach out to discuss details.
